Mountain King: WIP #4
Quick update on the Mountain King progress. I got the skin shaded and highlighted. I think it came out all right, but doesn’t feel like my best work ever. Shading and highlighting muscles is a lot different from the usual Cygnaran armor plates I’m used to. I did adjust my paint blends to get deeper highlights and higher highlights, which I think came out pretty well. Ended up redoing the highlight on his stomach as the first attempt was especially bad.
With the skin finished it was time to paint all those little rocks scattered about the flesh. Including a careful shading and gentle dry-brushing with a small brush to get them matching highlights to the big rocks.
At this point I’ve also painted the eyes and teeth on the whelps that are popping out of him.
I also finished up the mouth, teeth and tongue, so I glued the lower jaw onto the King’s head. I’ve decided to go without pupils for the King, though all my other trolls have them so far. The art work and models are pretty confusing as PP seems to waver back and forth over trolls having pupils or not. To help distinguish this gargantuan, I’ll go without pupils. His attached whelps all have pupils though.
Speaking of whelps, I’ve been working on those too. Still need to highlight them and maybe do some additional shading as well. Next will probably be finishing up the whelps, then getting the metal molded on King painted (chains and anchor points and the collar.
