Stormsmith Stormcallers
Still working on that fully painted army by getting those low-cost filler models painted. At 1pt a piece it’s hard to get lower-cost than the Stormsmiths. Especially now with the Stormwall and it’s Stormpods, the Stormsmiths are finding their way into my lists. As I contemplated adding Nemo3 to my arsenal, they become even more valuable for list building.
Something I didn’t realize until they were assembled is that my group of 3 Stormsmiths are different than the standard packaging. Typically, from what I’ve seen, you get two that look like the guy in the middle, but I only had one of those. Another of my continuing string of mis-packs. I liked the two outside guys though. Even though they are the same model their arms allowed for some easy reposing to get two different dynamic looks.
Rule-wise these guys are a blast (or should that be jolt?). Not only do they ignore Stealth, but they ignore defense as well, since their abilities are neither attacks or magic, all they need is a skill-check to hit a target with a POW 10. And being each a 1pt solo, they activate separately, no command ranges or command checks to worry about, they are nice to have on the field. The models themselves don’t thrill me, not sure why. They just felt a little too busy in certain areas. I used their pants to tie in my Cygnar white color, and that came out well. The jackets are a bit darker than I wanted, I think I should have based with the final highlight and just shaded down from that, as I did with the shoulders on the Sentinel. But the darkness isn’t too bad and they blend with each other, so I think they are ready to hit the battlefield.
